World No. 2 Roger Federer lost in the semi against eventual winner Murray, while top-ranked Rafael Nadal was beaten by Gael Monfils in the quarters. Nadal won the doubles title at Doha with partner Marc Lopez.
Marin Cilic defeated World No. 202 Somdev Devvarman to win at Chennai while Radek Stepanek beat Fernando Verdasco to win the title at Brisbane. World Number 3 Novak Djokovic was eliminated in the first round at Brisbane, missing the opportunity to surpass Federer at number two. He gets another shot at Sydney this week.
