DelPo, Welcome To The Bigs!

Before the Masters event in Miami this year, Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro was 0-12 against the "Big 4". Since then, he has scored three straight victories over Rafael Nadal (including the US Open semifinal blow-out) and beat Federer for the first time, at the US Open men's final for his first Grand Slam title.

Del Potro ends the five-year dominance of Europe in men's Grand Slam tennis: the last non-European to win a major is coincidentally, another Argentine in Gaston Gaudio, who won the French Open in 2004.

Del Potro earns 2000 ranking points from his US Open triumph, and has reclaimed the #5 ranking. He can crack the Top 4 if he puts up a solid performance in the indoor hardcourt season, especially if he wins his first career Masters title.

Congratulations, Juan Martin!

Here are the "Big 5" Ranking Points breakdown. Nadal is back at #2, while #5 Del Potro only trails #4 Djokovic by 655 points.

US Open Update: Murray Eliminated in Round-of-16

With No. 2 seed Andy Murray going out in the round-of-16 against Croat Marin Cilic one day after top seed Roger Federer advanced to the last eight, here is how the rankings of the "Big 4" are shaping up:

* Roger Federer will keep his No. 1 ranking even if he loses in the quarters against Soderling
* No. 3 Rafael Nadal will reclaim the No. 2 ranking with a win over Monfils in their round-of-16 match tonight, but only if Djokovic doesn't win the US Open. By reaching the semis, Nadal will be No. 2 regardless of Djokovic's results
* Murray could drop all the way down to No. 4 if Djokovic wins the US Open
